Resting calories

Hey guys! I’m new to the Apple Watch gang and I currently have the SE. I’m 5’9 and weigh 165 lbs and it says I burn roughly 1900-2000 resting calories a day. I know resting isn’t the same as BMR as BMR is without the digestive tract and other factors. Does this seem accurate? I stand all day for my job which I know might effect it. Thank you guys for your help I’m just trying to track a calorie deficit!

The Apple Watch likely uses the Harris-Benedict Equation which uses your age, height, weight and gender to calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate. The caloric figure from this equation is then added to your Active calories to get your Total Calories.

The Harris–Benedict equations

Men BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) - (5 × age in years) + 5

Women BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) - (5 × age in years) - 161
