How can I edit the Category field?

At the bottom of the View Options, under "other" there's an option called "Category". It reveals a field that has no entries in it for ANY song I have. At first I thought it was a renaming of "Genre", but nope.... Genre is still there. How can I edit this "Category" field? I don't ever recall seeing it in iTunes.

Category and description are fields normally associated with podcasts. You cannot edit them directly, though it is possible to use scripts to add or remove data from those fields.
