I'm a novis iMovie user.
When I run a downloaded video in view window on the right hand top half, I can hardly hear my voice commenting on what's happening in the scene. Hence I can't edit the video ( such as trim, cut and etc.).
My mac' sound' in the menu bar shows it's max volume so is the view window's 'sound' says 100%.
What do I do to increase the volume while I'm editing a video?
my macOS is 10.15.7 Macbook pro

Try selecting the clip and clicking on the loudspeaker icon in the toolbar at the upper right of your screen. Then use the slider to adjust the sound to 400% and see if that helps.

You can build up the sound by putting the clip in a separate project and sharing it out at 400% volume. Then import it back in and share it out again at 400%. EDIT: You can do that with the whole movie after you finish editing.

Thank you very much, Rich. Your suggestion worked well. Although I wish the video sound’s a bit louder but increasing to 400% enabled me to keep working on the clips. Many thanks again.
