Preventing apps from beeing deleted unintentionally by setting restriction without effect

I want to disable app deletion from homescreen. In Screen Time / Content & Privacy Restrictions / iTunes & App Store Purchases / Deleting Apps ist set to Don’t Allow. However it is still possible to tap and hold on the screen an delete apps. On an iPad the setting is effective and app deletion is prohibited as expected. All devices run iOS / iPadOS 14.4.1. Checked this on three iPhones and two iPads. All iPads = OK, all iPhones = NOT OK.

Do I miss something or is it a bug?

iPhone SE, iOS 14

Hagen-1,

Currently, you can use Screen Time to prevent apps from being deleted but that wouldn't lock the Home Screen layout. If this is a feature you would like to see in the future, you can send feedback to Apple from Product Feedback.

Have a great day!

Hello Hagen-1,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you have disabled app deletion on iPhone but still see the option to remove apps.

This may be due to the App Library which is an iPhone feature in iOS 14. When editing your Home Screen in iOS 14, apps can be removed from the Home Screen and placed in the App Library but are still on the iPhone. Check out Organize the Home Screen and App Library on your iPhone to learn more.

Take care.
