Safari on Mac: How can I change a saved credit card on a payment screen if I choose the wrong one?

Mac OS Mojave

HI,

I am trying to pay for something in Safari using a saved credit card. I chose the wrong one from the drop-down list and I want to change it, but when I select the drop-down list for card number, I no longer get the list of stored cards - I get summary information (card holder name, last four digits, expiry date, card type) about the already (incorrectly) selected card.

The only solution I have found is to manually type in the details. I realise Apple developers never make mistakes, but sometimes the rest of us do - how do we change the selected card?

I have tried the following:

  1. Going back a page (or two) and repeating the payment sequence;
  2. Selecting Paypal, then backing out and selecting Card payment

In both cases, the erroneous card information is remembered,

Seems unreasonable to have to kill and restart Safari to recover from this. Any tips?

Thanks for your help!

Russ

Dominic,

I'm not trying to change the stored card details. The problem arises when I am using it to buy something in Safari.

In a shopping cart checkout page, I occasionally select the wrong card (my personal card instead of a company card, for example). Used to be, I could click the list box icon for the credit card number and select a different card. Not any more.

Safari has changed its behaviour - now, I select a credit card from the dropdown list, change my mind, open the dropdown list again, and instead of showing my list of stored cards so I can select another one, it shows the account name, last for digits, expiry date and card type for the erroneously selected card. (This is useless information that is already displayed on the checkout screen.) The list of stored cards is not shown once a card has been selected.

Someone has been getting into the Appletinis at design time...

The image below was clipped after I went back to the online store and re-entered the cart.

The card number is gone (it was showing the last for digits before I backed out) but the card list is still showing the details of the card I had selected. I cannot see how to choose a different card for the payment.

It is very inconvenient...
