What I'm trying to do is play music from itunes from my computer speakers in one room and from my minis in another room. When I check the mini icon in AirPlay the minis play, but the computer speakers don't, and vice versa. I cant check 'computer' in Airplay and the mini icon at the same time--one cancels out the other. I mean, the whole purpose of the minis is to fill my house with music. If I can only play them separately, what's the point ? Thanks for your attention.
I can confirm you can’t choose both on MacOS Big Sur.
The mini isn’t loud enough for another room. The big HomePods are but are discontinued. Still a few left to buy, that is your best option for filling your home with music unfortunately.
As in your other thread homepod minis - Apple Community what operating system are you running? I can select both computer and my HomePods from Music in Catalina.

Are you sure you cannot reselect the computer speakers after selecting the HomePods? I'm sitting here with the same music coming out of my M1 MBA, ATV 4HD, and a pair of OG HomePods. The minis are configured to a different Home and won't work even though they are currently on the same network. I can reset them again I guess, but I can't see why it would be any different with them.

Are you using the volume control within iTunes rather than a Mac's volume control? iTunes should support multiple speakers, the Mac's volume control may not. Again the details may vary by operating system.

Yeah. If I select computer in Airplay, I cannot select mini pod at the same time. I just tried again. They cancel each other out. At sea. Thanks for your resp
Thanks. I can return them to Costco without a problem. Now my job is to find some Bluetooth speakers that will work in both rooms at once. The research never ends.
