I do not think all the kinks have been worked out—you can wait for a point update...

even on a late 2019 MBP 16" macOS 12.0.1 and an iPhone 12 iOS 15.1 following the guide line above "Use AirPlay to stream audio". I can successfully "mirror"( w/ audio) the screen however I can not stream the audio only.

I get the error:

If screen mirroring or streaming isn't working on your AirPlay ...

I am trying to find the list of supported models, but so far I haven't.

In the meantime, look at System Preferences->Sharing, and make sure that:

"Airplay Receiver" is there and is CHECKED:

Are you sure this is a 2018 MacBook Air? It is supposed to be supported.

Can you check in (Apple menu)->About this Mac to see the exact model?

Airplay to mac does not work on all macs.

I think that yours is not part of the supported models.

FWIW, Luis is correct. For example, I can Airplay to my iMac Pro and M1 MacBook Air running Monterey, but not my Late 2015 5K iMac running Monterey.

edit: This is from a 6s iPhone running iOS 15.1.

Can you click on "Control Other Speakers & TVs"? I don't actually see that on my iPhone.
