Hey Kath_Bloc,

I am sorry you are having this issue. Without full knowledge of the file type please excuse how basic I am about to get. I mean no offense what so ever. I am also going to assume you are using an iPhone. If not reply and I will edit this to a device you prefer.

First, I want to make sure you have your settings set to autoplay. Open the Setting App > Photos. A little more than halfway down the Photos settings page you will see Auto-Play Videos and Live Photos make sure this is on. They will not auto-play in the Library view but should when viewing the Gif.

Next, when saving it would be best to hold down on the Gif in Google then select "Add to Photos." That way it should stay a .gif and not become a still image file type.

If its still not moving you will want to move it from Photos to Files. In Photos while you are looking at the added "should be Gif' hit the share icon in the bottom left and select Save to Files. Once in files you can add it to a shared album or send it to people using the same share icon that Photos uses and it should work fine for you.

I hope this is helpful for you!

Nice!

Did it end up being an iCloud storage issue? I was looking at all the new features and Photos settings then realized the iCloud could be in play. Seems if a physical device (iPad Pro) is low on memory the iCloud storage will save smaller and reduced image files on the device than keep the original in the iCloud.

If that wasn't the issue this time you may want to watch out for that in the future. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205703 if you use iCloud photos.

It's a very cool product and if you weren't aware Apple gives us 5GB free iCloud storage for having an Apple ID!
