I am unable to use several of the ftp apps on my Mac Book Air with High Sierra, the port number 22 is rejected and nothing else seems to work

I recently installed High Sierra OS on my MacBook Air. Now, the ftp protocol does not function. I have tried several of the available file transfer app's with no success. They fail because Port 22 does is not allowed. One has to use a port number greater than 1024 and there is no glue as to what number will work. Any ideas?

Seems the direct access to 'ftp servers' may be missing; may still can be used.

include command-line or console/terminal, etc. There's also local ftp or s-ftp.

The version 5.4 was mentioned in later (2017?) articles on ftp access.

[Years ago with Lion 10.7.x some used 'homebrew' to make this work].

High Sierra & Mojave also made other recent changes to this access.

While not user of 'FTP' can see that'd been useful. ~ IF you hadn't tried: newer $5 app might help.

Kind Sir or Madam,

Your mojo is vastly superior to the other advice I was given to my inquires. After spending many hours trying to overcome "port 22" and "no port less than 1024 allowed", I was able to overcome my problem with the solution you offered in a matter of minutes. I had the homebrew loaded, but it did not offer 'ftp' by name. I had also tried several 'ftp' protocols offered through the AppStore.

May your mojo develop lead you up through Jedi status,
