i hope someone can help
my iPhone 8 was dropped and screen completely smashed and unable to login to phone. My Apple Watch was paired to this device and is currently locked. I have purchased a new iPhone 12 but I cannot pair to this phone as the watch is still paired with now dead iPhone. How can I unlock the Apple Watch to perform a reset so I can pair with new phone?

To unpair and erase watch and remove Activation Lock.
On a computer, go to iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
Go to Find Iphone.
Select All Devices, then click your Apple Watch.
Click Erase Apple Watch.
Select Next until the device is erased.
Click the remove button next to your Apple Watch.
Then go here;
