iOS 14.4.2 Rapid Battery Drain

After an updated, there can be a period of about 48 hours, where you may see a decrease in battery life. This can happen as things are being indexed and updated in the background. After 48 hours, you should expect to see your battery performance to return to normal.

I had originally posted that my battery was draining and after reading some suggestions someone said it took time after a software update for the phone to update the "flux capacitor" or something like that....I'm happy to say that after a few days the phone seemed to improve after whatever it needed to do and now the battery life seems back to normal. So it was very frustrating at first an immediately noticeable after updating to IOS 14.4.2 but worked itself out after a few days and a couple of reboots.

Just a note for anyone having this issue...my phone carrier is swapping my phone out for me as it is less than 6 moths old. They had me disable Find My Phone. As soon as I did this my battery does not drain anymore...It is now what I would consider to be normal.

Your device is at the point where a replacement battery is required.

It’s been 3 days and my battery on my iPad Pro went from 100% to 35% while reading on airplane mode (in airplane mode because of heavy battery loss previous days). This is a direct result of the iOS update. Patch, please.

My phone is struggling to charge past 60 and 70. And so is my iPad it’s starting to aggravate me. I just paid to replace my iPads battery because I thought it was toast but now my phones been doing it too. I have 6 brand new chargers so obviously it was the update I’m on my iPhone 11 and iPad 6th gen please fix this issue

I messaged apple “support” re my battery’s maximum capacity dropping from 84% to 80% after the update and issues with Instagram notifications (all notifications toggle on banners etc not showing up) but they weren’t any help. It’s like a way to get people to buy new phones or pay for battery service.

This battery issue has nothing to do with the battery, it’s software. I think it’s time Apple focused their attention to their real problems with their software update bugs than focusing on patching jailbreaks. Ever since iOS 14.2 came out the performance has been garbage... just saying.

It has been way longer than 48 hours since this update installed on my iPhone12. I have never seen a phone battery drain so fast in all my years owning them. I can not ever rely on this phone holding power for the shortest of trips without connecting it to a power source.

All my guys that have androids are laughing at me for continuing to use Apple products. I am starting to feel like a fool.

Apple Support will be overwhelmed and of no use if we all have to call - it's been well over 48 hours and the battery drain is so bad that I can't get through the day with my fairly new phone anymore. Please acknowledge that the ios update is causing this issue and get it fixed!

Same issue here.

Before I could use my phone all day without charging it, but now consistently need to charge it in the late afternoon/early evening despite no change in usage habits.

My phone also gets incredibly HOT, with almost no pattern to it.

Using an iPhone 11, iOS 14.4.2.

Apple, please fix this.

It’s the same for me. Fully charged at 8:00am and by 6:00pm drained down into the red. My usage is same as it was before - the phone battery would easily last until at least midnight. I have an iPhone 11. Also, since the upgrade (14.4.2), my fingerprint recognition on my iPad no longer works. Please sort this out, Apple.

I too having the same problems on my iPhone 7 Plus!

Apple need to fix this problems as many Users are having the same exact problems!

I'm having it too after upgrading, never had it before. The issue is real.

SAME PROBLEM!! My battery is draining so quickly - within MAYBE 15 minutes of just surfing the web (no gaming, no videos), my phone went from 95% to 87%!! FIX THIS, APPLE!!!!!
