There is no mute button on the videos that are being sent via messages, and the videos are auto playing on a loop with sound which is extremely annoying! how can we stop this? The mute button is on the iOS devices but not on MacOS... how did apple miss this feature?

Something to check. If you go to Messages/Preferences/General, is Play sound effects checked?
It's not checked, and the digital touch videos still plays with sound.
