Possible to silence Messages alerts when getting rapid messages?

Hello, I was wondering if it's possible to silence alerts when you're getting many messages at a fast pace? I don't mind getting the alert sound at the first message, but when I'm getting several messages at the same time from the same person, it can get pretty annoying.

For now I have the sound alerts turned off, but I would like them on if I'm not actually on my computer at the time.

I've looked around the notification settings as well as the settings on the Messages app itself, but I can't seem to find anything, although I can have overlooked it of course.

I've also tried googling, but again, maybe I've used the wrong phrases and overlooked it.

No need to Google or use Terminal:

Manage notifications from Messages on Mac - Apple Support

Use the search window in this Apple page to search stuff like that:

Official Apple Support

That what I did to find the article on Messages notifications.
