My series 1 Apple Watch is at watchOS 4.3.2 and says "Your software is up to date" when I check for software updates.
How do I get it to recognize there is an update available?

Are you certain it is a Series 1? 4.3.2 is the highest possible watchOS for an Apple Watch (1st generation) while the highest for an Apple Watch Series 1 is 6.2.8.

Looks like I have a 1st generation watch (Model: A1554) not Series 1 (dumb naming convention in my opinion). So I've maxed out on OS updates.

If it says that it looks like you have a 1st generation watch not a series 1,a 1st generation watch will only update to watchos 4.
