how to turn off page numbering in Numbers

In Numbers, Menu > File > Print... to see Print Setup. That is where you will see the Page Headers and Page Footers. To see more clearly, hover the cursor over a page to see the outlines of Headers and Footers.

By default, Numbers has the page number in the Footer. Select and delete the page number. That will remove page numbers from all pages on that Sheet (Tab).

If your entire document is in a single section, then Insert Page number is a document wide setting. If you have split the document into sections, each section may be set to display or not display page numbers, and removing the page numbers will require removing the page number from one page in the section.

If you do not want page headers (or page footers) with any content, you can turn them off by opening the Document inspector (button to the right of the Format brush) and unchecking the Header and Footer checkboxes.

Open the document.

Click on the first page number to select it.

Press delete.

If you have divided the document into sections, you will need to check later pages for page numbers and may need to repeat the process once in each section.
