Connecting Mac book Pro OS X El Captain to an upgraded iPhone X

I have a Mac book Pro with OS X El Captain and Apple made a severe damage on it by series of upgrading OS. I don't want to upgrade my Mac any more. But by upgrading iPhone iOS now you should upgrade your Mac too to be able to connect to it! I was able to connect them for a simple backup on iTune before the latest iOS update on iPhone!

How can I connect my Mac to my iPhone?

iPhone X, iOS 14

Upgrade to 10.11.6 and its last security update:

Combo and Security Update 2018-004

Download the latest iTunes and Mac OS X 10.11.6.

You may need an another browser that is compatible with the download link.

Once iTunes is upgraded, you should be able to hook up the iPhone while on iTunes.

Well I would at least call AppleCare and let them know their articles need to be updated. This is the first documentation that I've heard that 10.11.6 is not compatible with the latest iOS. None of the Wikipedia links relevant to it have noted this.

I wrote the articles about what is compatible on the user tip library:

https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-8871

So I definitely need updated info

For iOS 14 you need iTunes 12.8.2.3 or better running on OS X 10.11.6 or better. See How to upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support if required.

Assuming a suitable version of iTunes is in place then in Finder use the menu item Go > Go to Folder..., copy the following text, paste it into the dialog box and press enter:

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/Current/Resources

Unlock your device and connect it to USB. Double click on MobileDeviceUpdater in the folder that has opened. It should notify you of a software update. Install it and iTunes should hopefully recognize your device.

If these steps haven't worked you can also try reinstalling iTunes 12.8.2.3 while your device is connected and unlocked.

Thanks for your answer but it couldn't help me!

I have 10.11.6 in my iMac and I downloaded the latest iTunes, but still they can not connect to each other! The latest update on iPhone kills all connection with previous OS X unfortunately and in the upgrade information they don't tell you that your phone can not connect to your your current OS anymore and it is very unfair! I think it is the end of being Apple's customer after 15 years.
