In Mac Mail, how is an archive any different from new mailbox?
I have a folder/mailbox/whatever (in On My Mac). One contains like 6000 emails (messages). I only use it to look up things. So the vast, vast majority of them are never read. But I'm concerned that there are too many total messages that might reach some limit either performance-wise or worse.
Seems a real archive is exporting them out of the Mail database. So it seemed Archive is the right thing to do. But all it does is make a mailbox in the first section (Inbox, VIPs, . . .).
So how is an archive different from just making a new "mailbox"?
TIA!
