external monitor and mouse and keyboard

I have a macbook pro 13 m1 2020 and an external monitor. I need to log in to mac os using the macbook keyboard, otherwise the external keyboard and mouse won't work. Previously, I had to open the computer a little to turn it on and off, and I could work with an external keyboard and mouse. now only after you log in. What could be the problem ? I have a native apple keyboard. I have the latest version of Mac os.

Hi antonyRock,

Thanks for posting! We see you're having some issues with an external keyboard and mouse on your MacBook Pro with Apple M1 Chip. We'd like to see if we can help out with this.

You mentioned you're using an external monitor. To narrow this issue down, try temporarily disconnecting the monitor and starting your Mac up; are you able to replicate the issue, or are you able to log in with the monitor disconnected?

Depending on how that goes, it may also help to test in safe mode to rule out some possible software issues. Here's How to use safe mode on your Mac.

"How to use safe mode

Determine whether your using a Mac with Apple silicon, then follow the appropriate steps:

Apple silicon

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds as your Mac starts up.
  3. Release the power button when you see startup options window.
  4. Select your startup disk, press and hold the Shift key, click Continue in Safe Mode, then release the Shift key.
  5. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again."

Keep us posted. Have a good one!
