Rental movie issue

I rented a movie that expires in two hours. Can’t get it to play on my inside device. Outside, I stopped the movie and even unplugged the device. Now it will not play elsewhere.

Hello fbhrar,

It sounds like you rented a movie that you were unable to actually watch. We can certainly understand reaching out for help when content you have paid for is not working for you. We're happy to help you out with this.

Since your movie has already expired, we recommend requesting a refund for it. You can do that using the steps here: Request a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple.

If you ever decide to rent content in the future and run into the same type of issue again, try out the steps in Rent movies from the Apple TV app, specifically this section:

"Get help

  • If you can‘t stream or watch video content from the Apple TV app, restart your device. If your rental still won't play, learn about streaming issues or report a problem.
  • For downloads, you can start watching your movie as soon as enough of it has downloaded to play without interruption. If you plan on watching your rental on an airplane or where Wi-Fi isn't available, you might want to download your rental a day before to make sure that you have enough time for it to download to your device."

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Take care.
