Apple 4K TV not playing 4K movies, even those purchased through iTunes

I went to my collection of 4K movies on my Apple TV 4K and many will not allow me to select the movie to play. All were available and would play normally. It doesn't matter if it was a 4k movie purchased directly through iTunes, or a digital code download. When I select the film icon the screen doesn't go black and the movie starts playing like normal, it just has this kind of mottled screen. The same movies play fine on my iPhone 12, iPad, and MacBook Pro. I've tried resetting the Apple 4K TV, re-entering my iCloud credentials, et. Really stumped. I've attached a picture of the screen I get.

We see you're unable to play 4K movies on your Apple TV. Is the Apple TV right next to or touching your Wi-Fi router. If so, you may have streaming issues while watching 4K videos.


If that doesn’t work for you, the information below will help us more.


-Is the Apple TV software up-to-date?

-When you reset the Apple TV, were these steps used: Reset Apple TV?

-Were there any changes prior to this starting?

Actually my Apple TV is a couple feet from the router and is connected to it with an ethernet cable. I had tried the restart which didn't work. Software was all up to date as well. Before doing the Reset, I unplugged the unit for an extended period and that solved the issue. The 4K movie info and play button now sweep up from the bottom of the screen as previously. Not sure why the screen was frozen and the play and other buttons were not sweeping up from the bottom of the screen.
