Cannot Download Files

I am trying to download a file and my mac keeps telling me "there is no application set to open the document". There are no existing applications that will open it and when I click on "search app store", it says there are none available in my region. The file is ".omv".

File "Can't be Found" prompts after Ventura 13.1 Since updating to Ventura 13.1, at random times, when I double-click on a file to open it, I get a prompt that the file can't be found. If I click OK then double-click the file again, it opens as it should. It happens randomly to files of all types. I have never created aliases to any of these files and they are stored locally on a desktop folder. This has never happened before 13.1. Available app updates are not showing in App Store->Updates Recenlty, I noticed that I'm not geeting any updates for existing apps in my MacBook Pro. I was using MacOS 12.6.1 and I noticed that one of my app was not working properly. Then, I checked that app in App Store and it was showing an update is available but the same thing is not showing in App Store->Updates. I upgraded my MacOS to 12.6.2 and then 13.1 too. But the problem is still persistent. I have checked few apps individually like Pages, Numbers, iMovies, Keynotes etc. on App Store and I found that updates are available but these updates not showing in App Store->Updates. Please help me.

Hi Rleighton10,

It seems an .omv file is "Windows" based. It seems it doesn't open in Mac software, or the usual Windows systems either.

Apple does not like us to download non-Apple software, because some apps are incompatible, and only cause grief.

There is a webpage about .omv files it you might like to read.

You might want to weigh up how important opening the file is ... with taking the risk on the non=Apple software.
