i would like to buy iphone 12 from japan and i want to use it in indonesia. according to apple website, the carrier that supported this is only smartfren. i would to use another carrier, can i do that?( for example indosat)

It means not all services are available.
For example: iMessage is not free if the carrier is not listed.
Make sure the Japanese iPhone is not carrier locked
If it is then you cannot use it in Indonesia.
Best you best iPhone where you live and not from overseas.
Note: Warranty and services are only valid in country of purchase, if it's from Japan then only valid there.
