iPhone's IP67 Water and Dust Resistant is a SCAM

FALSE ADVERTISMENT AT IT'S BEST!

I didn't soak my phone in water, didn't even have it in close contact with water. It was raining and I placed it inside a ziplock bag to protect it. But somehow it got moisture inside. Now my screen is flickering and my phone is about to die. Apple guarantees IP67 water and dust resistant BUT IT IS A SCAM, IT IS FAKE. It doesn't even cover it in the warranty. It is really difficult to get support from Apple. Even difficult to get customer support. Note that I didn't get it wet in the rain, protected it with a ziplock bag.

Tried taking it to an Apple Repair shop but I was advised to buy a new phone. Like WHAT?!

Does anybody have the same experience? What did you do? Accept the face that Apple is just out there to take our money? Very displeased with Apple right now. All my gadgets are from Apple, from my laptop, desktop, phone, iPad and I even have the iPod Shuffle.

I can't believe how how a world class, cream of the crop company could have the worst support for their customers. Worst is the FALSE ADVERISTMENTS they are showing to people. SMH.

yeah I completely understand that it is not waterproof that is why I secured it inside a ziplock bag so as not to get it wet. I would gladly accept it if I accidentally soaked it in water. I wouldn't be irate about it. It it was not soaked, not ever splashed with water but it still got damaged and Apple is doing its best to get more money from me. The repair for the supposedly IP67 phone would cost almost the same as buying a new one so they advised to just get a new one. Awesome suggestion, yes?

If that is the case then they should NOT have advertised it as IP67. My point is the advertising is a SCAM. How can you be water/dust resistant but moisture can penetrate in the device. What frustrates me is the face that it was not even in contact with water. I was under the rain for barely a minute. Phone was not soaked, not even splashed with water.

I’m sorry about your phone. I’d be frustrated too.

I hate to say this while the burn is still hot, but… Unfortunately with that water/moisture in such a small space like a ziplock bag, some of it would have become airborne. Moist air will get into any device and of/when it cools down later it condenses back to a liquid inside the device, shorting or corroding electronics inside.

Refer to Apple’s Environmental Requirements:

Operating ambient temperature:

32° to 95° F (0° to 35° C)

Nonoperating temperature:

−4° to 113° F (−20° to 45° C)

Relative humidity:

5% to 95% noncondensing

Operating altitude:

tested up to 10,000 feet (3000 m)

More details see: www.apple.com/iphone-12/specs/

Humidity is the reason I never leave my devices in the bathroom unless they’re next to an open window.
