Crackling sound from internal speakers

I have a Macbook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) that works fine. I have recently updated to macOS Big Sur. It has developed a crackling sound from both the left and right speakers. Have done the basics checked the Audio Midi and Sound settings, done a NVRAM/PRAM reset but both the speakers till crackle, assume and hoping it is not the speakers as both crackle when i change the balance

Greetings kksr_12,

We understand you have a concern related to the sound from your MacBook Pro speakers. We're happy to advise.

Based on your post you've taken some great steps already. One more item that may help is resetting the SMC for your Mac. Check out How to reset the SMC of your Mac for the steps to do this.

After that is completed, check to see if this behavior persist in all apps and all locations. If so, then using Get Support to connect with our support or Find Locations can direct you to nearby service providers to evaluate your MacBook further for options.

Cheers!
