14.4.2 battery drain and phone auto changed settings

I woke up to a notification on my screen saying iOS had updated to 14.4.2. My iPhone 7 had changed the setting to allow automatic downloads. I always have it set to manual.

My battery dropped from 100% to 79% in 30 minutes. I checked all my settings and all of the usual battery drain culprits were off: background app refresh, location, etc. I restarted and that didn’t help. Now it’s taking so long to charge back to 100%

Hello,

Hmm, there is always additional processing with a new version of iOS. You can check the standard steps for short battery life:

1) Go to Settings > Battery > BATTERY USAGE BY APP to see the apps that are consuming your battery.

2) Check “Battery Health” in the link:

iPhone Battery and Performance

3) If all else fails, consider a battery replacement:

iPhone Battery & Power Repair

Good luck.
