Iphone & Apple Watch - Different Plans - Same Carrier

Currently I have an iPhone and Apple watch on the same Verizon account. My job has just offered to bring my phone number over to their account (that is also Verizon) and pay the bill, but the watch is not included. Is it possible to have the iphone on one account and the apple watch on the other and them still work together and the cellular part still intact? Right now my apple watch has it's own number and it rings and receives texts/notifications when my phone does as well.
