This sounds like a common thing, having a long call, without holding the phone on your ear a whole time, but on speaker it burns battery, because screen does not turn off. If I switch speaker off, then it does.

You can just lock the screen after activating the speaker, then the screen turns off but the call continues with the speaker function.

I'm not aware of a setting. Have you tried pressing the lock/power button to lock the screen?
