2016 & 2017 Macbook Pro screen issues - Design flaw????

Help! I now have two Macbook Pros with exactly the same screen issues. Both machines have been used as desktops, treated carefully and both have suddenly developed horizontal lines across the screen that make it impossible to use without a second screen.

These machines have already had apple repairs - one touch-bar replacement, one keyboard replacement but they are both are now out of basic warrantee, and Apple support have only offered a total screen replacements at my own cost!!!

I believe the issues stem from the design of the products, my much older macbook pros are still going strong, no screen issues at all. Has anyone had screens replaced by apple?

I am extremely frustrated, we purchase high value products but do expect them to last longer than this.

Hi SR14,

I too face display backlight issue for my MacBook Pro 2017 model since mid 2020. Initially the device showed some staged LED lights appearance at the bottom of the screen. All Of a sudden my display started looking blank when opened, only to find out later that the display backlight works when it's opened till 30-40 degrees approximately after which it goes blank. I'm really frustrated . When I approached the authorised service centre, I was asked to get it repaired under paid service. When I started gathering information regarding this, i came to know that even some people in my known circle had the same issue with Pro but not with Air.

Really shame on apple to claim that it's a premium product, when they have acknowledged issues in 2016 MacBook Pro model and it's not been addressed for the 2017 and the later models. Not able insert pics. Rra now.. will upload soon.
