I have recently updated to Big Sur and after that I am no longer able to transfer videos from my Mac to a USB and from a USB to USB. I tried to reformat and other things but it doesn't fix the problem.

I’ve tried to reformat however because you have to reformat to Mac journaled the USB no longer works on other brand devices. Any other suggestions? I’ve already erased and made useless 1 USB, not keen to do that to my other ones

not sure what that really means, maybe you should try to format it as exFAT
Like Windows and Toshiba computers. The USB is no longer recognised. I tried exFAT but goes back to error 1309
if it does not work with several devices then I would begin suspecting it's a defect ext hd
