My iPhone 6plus which I love does not allow me to update to IOS8 which I need in order to download certain apps one of which is the NHS Covid App which is used to scan in entry to hospitality venues etc. As a senior lady I don’t want to replace my old phone which works perfectly. What can I do?
An iPhone 6 Plus can update to iOS 12.5.2. You may need to update through your computer if it hasn’t been updated in a long time. What is the current iOS version that you have on it now?
iOS8? An iPhone6 can be updated to iOS 12.5.2. Unfortunately that won’t be enough to run the NHS COVID app which I think needs IOS13.
My phone is updated to 12.5.2 apparently so I think you are right the Covid app needs IOS13 which leaves me and a lot of other possibly older people unable to access it especially with the possible introduction of a vaccine passport online. Shame on Apple!!

The iPhone 6 was discontinued in 2016.
It's obsolete. It has been for quite some time.
It's time to move on.
