Ipad Air 2 with overpowered charger

I've charged my Ipad Air 2 with 20W Apple a2347 charger that is supplied with Ipad 8-th gen (not realizing that max power supported is 12W and that fast charging/PD is not supported).

As per label on charger minimum power of the charger is 15W which exceeds max supported power of Ipad by 3W.

During the charging device remained quite hot.

I'm wondering if I could have damaged my Ipad by connecting this unsupported charger?

What could have happened (burn battery/decrease battery life - hopefully not much)?

Thanks in advance

Michal

Your iPad will have suffered no damage. When used with a non-PD compliant iPad, the 20W Power Adapter will switch to 5V - and deliver a maximum of 2.4A (12W). The iPad will only draw the power it needs - regulating charging as necessary.
