I somehow lost a bunch of contacts on my iphone. I checked my iCloud storage and all the lost contacts are stored in iCloud, but when I try to restore, my phone contact list does not get restored. Any help?

Open Contacts app. Tap on Groups in the upper left corner. Make sure all groups are checked.
Also go to Settings/[your name]/iCloud and make sure the Contacts switch is on. This syncs contacts between your phone and iCloud. It is not the same as iCloud backups. In fact, anything synced is not included in a backup.
I’m having same issue and no longer see Groups in the upper left corner. Only + sign upper right to add new contacts and search. In addition, all of my Notes also disappeared.
I do, too. And I cannot find the "Groups" that is mentioned in the A above. The very first time I had to restore the contacts it worked and now...nothing.
I don't have a "Groups at the top left".
What if I don't have an email address, only a phone number? This has been going on for a month and have used any trick recommended on the site. No help!

i would like to say a big thank you i spent hours trying to retrieved my phone numbers, they still are not in my phone book but they have returned to my contact app, much glad.
