MacBook Pro display not working

I have a mid 2017 and the screen stoped working but it appears to be powering up. The touch bar is functioning. I tried connecting it to and external monitor and I get a weird image of what appears to be a blue and grey envelope very out of focus. Any ideas?

Hello luke5129,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with the display for your MacBook Pro. There are a couple different troubleshooting actions you can try for this issue.

Go ahead and restart or force restart your MacBook. To Force restart, press and hold the power button on your Mac for at least 10 seconds, then release.

If the issue continues, try performing both a SMC and NVRAM reset. The articles below will assist you with each process.
