How do I get my fully transparent menu bar back?

I updated to Big Sur when it became available and I have really been liking the look of the fully transparent menu bars. I have a black background and the menu bar just appeared all black with white icons. It looked really slick.

However, when I was using my computer a couple days ago I noticed that the menu bar is no longer completely transparent. I still have the black background and the menu bar is a medium gray color.

I've searched for a way to switch it back but all I can find are articles that talk about how to make your menu not transparent by clicking "reduce transparency" in the accessibility settings.

I want to do the opposite. How do I increase transparency so the menu bar is fully transparent again?

I'm using macOS Big Sur version 11.2.1 on a 2018 15" MacBook Pro.

Thanks Old Toad, but that is definitely not what I wanted.
