Enable 2160p in Youtube App - iPad 5th generation.
I heard the news that iOS 14 supports 2160p in Youtube. But I am getting an upper limit of 1080p. Why?
iPad, iPadOS 14

Well, there are videos in YouTube showing the 2160p quality is now available in iPhones even though it has a Full HD display. My iPad may be older but it has 1440p display, so it should at least support that. Also, my iPad runs on the latest software.
Just because a YouTube video can possibly be set for a higher pixel resolution doesn't mean the device viewing such a higher resolution image is capable of displaying it or displaying properly.
iPads have a set screen resolution that cannot ever be changed.
While iPhones and iPads don't have 4K displays, they can show higher-quality video than the 1080p that they've been limited to with YouTube. ... You can watch YouTube in 4K on a Mac, but not with Safari for now.

Apple is not here and does not support Google apps and services.
Youtube decides what resolution to stream video to you based on your device and network bandwidth.

Using the YouTube App (not necessarily YouTube accessed through a browser), from my 12.9 inch, iPad Pro, 2nd generation, running iPadOS 14.4.2, I’m able to support full 4K (2160p @ 60Hz) on my 4K monitor (through Google Chromecast Ultra).
(I also use the YouTube App to view videos on that same iPad Pro. However, I don’t usually pay attention to the resolution it is using.)
I believe older iPad models DO NOT support 4K or 5K video.
Sorry.
But, I have seen videos that people enabling 2160p in YouTube app in their iPhone. And they say it is because of iOS 14.
Ask Google.
I searched a lot. Couldn’t get any solution. Hopes that Apple support will come to help.
Oh, ok. So, maybe the A9 chipset is bit outdated and doesn’t support 4k. That’s maybe the reason. Thank you.
