Pointer/curser mis-alignment

After update to Catalina on late 27” 2017 imac the curser always activates several inches away from where the pointer is on all my input devices.

It will be several inches lower/higher and off to the left or right.

If I hold down a ‘left click’ and drag a ‘box’ shape the true ‘hot spot’ where the curser causes an action is at the top corner opposite from where the curser is.

If I carefully draw the ‘box’ on the screen so that the opposite corner ends up on the button, etc. that I want to hit/activate and then hit ‘return’ it does what it should (where the curser actually is).

This happens wired or wireless. mouse/track-pad/apple/non-apple...all respond this way.

Does the odd behavior exhibit in safe mode? How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Or a different user account?

If all of that fails I'd reinstall Mac OS.
