Poor cellular connection

I am on O2. My iPhone 8 plus has shown only 2 bars when my neighbour has 4 bars and is less than 50 yards from me. I have just bought another iPhone 8 plus and this gives me unto 4 bars in the same location. It is also picking up a CarPlay connection within seconds whereas the old phone struggled. My question is can the cellular bit of the hardware fail? All is there a remedy for restoration.

Thanks for your replies. I have exchanged the iPhone 8 Plus for another. And I am getting much better mobile signal on this one. I used to have very flakey CarPlay connection. Very slow to Get a GO button. Now with the new iPhone 8 Plus CarPlay connects very fast as it should. I am also getting 3 to 4 bars of signal. Tomorrow I am going to a place where my friend got a signal and I did not to compare the result on the replacement iPhone.
