iPhone 6s Rose Gold not Receiving Text Right Away

My sister has an iPhone 6s rose gold 32GB model that occasionally doesn’t receive a text until long after it has been sent. When they deliver it says something like sent 40 minutes ago. Is this possible to fix? She is ordering a new phone today, but I will be getting the 6s once her new one arrives and is setup.

I would add a picture but the text she just got that said sent 40 minutes ago she already opened.

Hello -Captain-,

We understand that your sister has an iPhone that is receiving text messages later than anticipated. If you have her iPhone handy, let's work to isolate the situation.

Does this happen with SMS messages, iMessages or both? How about Wi-Fi vs cellular data connectivity? Is she having any issues with sending messages? Is your sister's iPhone up to date running iOS 14.4.2? If not, please be sure she backs up her data first, then install the update.

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you are going to be taking over her iPhone, it will reason that you'll want to remove all her data from the device and at that time you can restore the software to be sure there isn't an issue there, since it won't contain any of your data yet. Then restore your backup or migrate your data to the device. Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

Let us know the above answers or if you have any questions, we'll be glad to keep working on this with you and your sister.

Hello Leanne_68,

I sadly don’t have the phone currently with me as she keeps it most of the time and I only have it in my position occasionally for fixing and other stuff I do with it. She had been behind on software updates as I told her to hold tight of updates since my Dad works from home and needs all the wifi he can get on our poor network. I just told her last night to download iOS 14.4.2 and install it this morning or later today. She is currently running iOS 14.2 or iOS 14.3, but is planning to update soon! I think this only happens with group chat texts and green bubble texts, SMS texts, but I can’t say for certain since she didn’t know all the details, but only told me that her phone was received texts quite late sometimes.

I will be inheriting the phone as soon as I get all her info to her new phone safely and securely and will be resetting the device to my Apple ID and info, so maybe then it’ll work smoothly!

Thank you very much for your help Leanne!

Sincerely,

Captain
