Swollen battery Early 2015 macbook pro 13” 2.9ghz.

My macbook has a swollen battery today makes my computer 6 years old. It still works fine like the day i brought it. Only issue is swollen battery.

yes they have a recall program but my model dosent meet requirements. I have been quoted $200 for the repair. I will be getting the battery replacement in 2 days and will keep everyone updated.

i do not believe I should pay for this because my battery only has 500 cycles and normal status. I use my computer every day and cannot afford any damage to my components therefore i will sacrifice the $200

i would like this issue to be looked into by apple support team and acknowledge that the early 2015 13 inch models are also having this swollen battery defect as well.

apple support please contact me , i would like to know if a possible refund is in the future.

Welcome to the Apple User-to-User support communities. Readers are other Users like you.

We have no special mechanisms to contact Apple support. I suggest you bring it up when you hand over your computer for repair.

Save your receipts. If Apple ever does decide to issue a recall for your model's battery failure, they will re-imburse you for your repair.

Otherwise, you should assume the battery failure after about six years is a random failure.

although my computer is 6 years old . I noticed the mild swelling about 4 years in. I have had my computer in clamshell mode for about 2 1/2 years and did not really think anything of it since i have a case on my computer since i brought it.

since i use it in clamshell mode i was not able to Immediately focus the issue.. but i recently took my mac out of its hard case and noticed it would not sit flush on the counter top.

had i not taken it out of the case i would never have noticed the swelling. Thankyou for your response it has given me alot of insight on everything.

This company has consultants and scientists on its payroll. They posted this informational essay on Lithium battery swelling on their website (in my opinion, intended to push their consulting services). But the insights provided are BROADLY applicable for Lithium batteries:
