Cannot search for mail in email

When I try to search for a specific email in the mail app on my MacBook Pro it just shows my entire inbox instead of searching for a specific subject or person under my email.

I have (or probably had) the same issue here for weeks now, sometimes it works sometimes not. I searched quite some time and tried several things. Amongst them was to delete the mail index files and rebuild with next start of mail app, or exclude the main disk from spotlight and add it again, also to re-index it. But nothing helped, till i found the following in the comment section of that article, which also explains to me why it worked sometimes. => process corespotlightd

When it didn't work i did the following according that user: using the activity monitor i stopped the process corespotlightd, and restarted mail, and search immediately worked, the process then restarts. According to that user this is the search process for spotlight, and this seems to occur when you have multiple user on the mac and switch between them.

And this was also the case with my mac, when i fast switch to another user do some stuff there, and go back to the other account, mail search didn't work anymore, i typed search terms but nothing found. After stopping that process it worked again.

this using big sur 11.2.3

Happens everytime when i fast switch to another user, even when not opening the mail with the other user.

Can add now, even without having to restart the mail app, just stopping the process corespotlightd (restarts immediately and so gets a new PID for this process) solves this immediately here on my mac, search just works again.

Hope will be fixed soon, very annoying. Will report this.
