Aspect ration incorrect in Apple TV+ on Samsung Smart Tv

Any ideas on how I fix the aspect ratio of a show if it displays wrong on Apple TV+ on my Samsung TV?

The show is presented 16:9 and is fine when watching Apple TV on my iPhone. But on the Smart TV it is squashed into 4:3. There is no option in the Apple TV+ settings to change the ratio. When I go into the TV settings the option to change the ratio is switched off (presumably because the app should do that)
