Found jail broken app on my iPhone and I never did it?

My iPhone was doing weird thing for nearly 6 months and I was sure I was hacked.

I put in to be check out with IT Company and when I got it back after needing to be wiped with confirmation that there was suspicious thing on it indicating it was hacked I turned it on and started setting up and there was a weird CYDIA app on it that I didn’t recognise. I tried to open it but it did nothing then after I googled it I found out it was a jail break app.

I was unable to remove it so tried turning off and web said to do update which strangely only took couple minutes to do, it restarted and the app was gone.

My iPhone is still doing weird stuff and even know I was told the update would remove it I still have major issues including crackle in calls, over heating when haven’t used and battery issues as well as it asks for my Apple ID nearly daily and updates come in after they are published and the size is different.

My mate said it’s not jail broken if it updates but to be honest, he’s the person I believe has done it.

How can I ensure it’s no longer jail broken?

big grabs in advance

If you want to be COMPLETELY sure that your iPhone is not Jailbroken, make a Restore. It deletes the iPhone, overwriting the existing software with a new software, directly from Apple. After that, you are 100% sure that your iPhone can no longer be jailbroken.

You MUST use a PC / Mac to do a Restore.

First, make an iCloud Backup of your phone. A Restore deletes everything locally on your iPhone and restores it to factory settings. However, everything you have in iCloud will not be deleted. You can read how to make an iCloud Backup here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203977

If you want to start all over again, then you do not need to make an iCloud Backup. But remember, everything gets deleted.

Get ready for Restore:

First, log out of your Apple ID on your iPhone. Go to:

Settings -> Apple ID (Your Name) -> Find My

Sign out of Find My iPhone

Then go back to the Apple ID menu and select Sign Out at the bottom, also turn off your iPhone.

Now to your computer. If you use a Mac, then you do not need to install anything. If you are using Windows then you need to download the latest version of iTunes. You can download iTunes from the Microsoft Store.

Make a Restore:

1) If your iPhone is not turned off, turn it off now.

2) Connect your Lightning Cable to your PC / Mac

3) Connect the cable to your iPhone - the moment the cable is in your iPhone, press and hold the Home Button until the device enters Recovery Mode.

Recovery Mode is a black screen, with a computer and a cable icon.

On your computer. Now you can select Restore. Your computer downloads new software, it takes up approx. 5-6GB. It may take some time, depending on how fast your internet connection is. Make sure your computer stay awake in the process, and do not disconnect your phone until your computer reports that your iPhone is ready.

Your phone is now restored and 100% not jailbroken.

In the startup process, you can choose to restore from your iCloud Backup.
