How can you write exponents using you mac desktop

Use superscripts available in Unicode. These are available via control-command-space, which summons the character viewer. Search for superscript in the character viewer search box, and you’ll find the whole set.


Or depending on whst you’re doing, Pages and other tools including TextEdit support subscripts and superscripts in their formatting: Use superscript or subscript in TextEdit on Mac - Apple Support
