iCloud Keychain prompts to create a user password, but I already have one

I have been trying to find a solution to my problem, but can't seem to find anyone else who's had this problem. Specifically, this is not about the keychain access password, rather when turning on keychain in iCloud on my new MacBook Pro, a pop-up windows tells me this action requires me to create a user password, but I already have a user password! So when I try to make one it just does not work, and it tells me there was a problem with my Apple ID. I've tried everything: signing in, signing out, removing my user password, trying to change it, and so on.

I would be grateful for a solution!

Hello zyazik,

It looks like you need some help with your iCloud Keychain on your MacBook. We will be happy to assist.

It looks like it is indeed asking for the MacBook Pro's password to set this up. Have you tried any restarts of the Mac to see if that helps?

Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac

If you have, can you try safe mode to see what happens? Start up your Mac in safe mode

If that doesn't work, let's try a test user:

Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
