My wife and I have Apple watches. She has a 6 and I have a 5. She gets my messages on her iPhone and iPad but doesn't always get an alert her on her watch. I also don't always get an alert on my watch that she sent me a message'
Do you each have your own iPhones with separate Apple IDs? If you and your wife are sharing an Apple ID, you will continue to have these kinds of problems and there is really no work-around other than each of you getting your own Apple ID. If there is info, you want to share, use Family Sharing:
