Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
When I am playing my edit in the preview pane and I zoom in or out while playing, or move along the edit, the thumnails do not update until I stop the playback and start again. This is frustrating as I do most my cuts during playback and it slows me down drastically.
Is there anyway to get the thumbnails to update during playback?

You can try installing the Command Post utility.
EDIT: I went and tried, and it seems to be working; but they do say there could be a reason this preference is hidden in FCP.
The setting you want in CP is
"Enable Rendering during Playback"
