A hairline crack appeared at the top of the iPhone 12 Pro Max screen

I have a iPhone 12 pro max. I put it in a case with a screen protector. Shortly after a hairline crack appeared at the top of the screen and now a second hairline crack has appeared at the bottom of the screen. The phone was never dropped. I researched this issue online and discovered I am not the only one that has had this happened. The screen on this phone is advertised as very durable but apparently that is not the case. I have had apple phones for years and have never had hairline cracks appear or a cracked screen. I do not have apple care on the phone so the $29 option to replace the screen is not possible. To replace the screen costs $329. I'm going to live with the cracks but I'm not very happy with this situation.
