My AirPods do not update

6.8.8 appears to be the latest firmware update for Gen 1 AirPods. It was released September of 2019. In the unlikely event there is another update for Gen1 AirPods, it will happen automatically while they are connected to your Apple device (iPhone, iPad, Mac).

I was responding to OP. Generally, you should make your own thread if you have a question so as to not muddy the waters, but to answer you: You need to have the AirPods in their case, connected to power, and within range of your Apple device and connected to it (via Bluetooth). The AirPods should automatically update. The latest Firmware for the Gen2 AirPods is 3E751.

We'd love to assist you with your AirPods. It sounds like you'd like to update them. When an update is available for the AirPods, they are automatically updated when paired to an iPhone running the latest software version. The update is not something that can be done manually.

I thought you were the person who started this topic and was asking you. You seemed to be asking the person who started this topic by asking a question, another question and asking that person if they had a suggestion. Realize we can only handle one person't problem in a topic and it gets very confusing with another person starts asking questions too, parrticularly if you are asking the person who themselves is askinga question.

Orr okay. Well what I do is look at the experts on you tube they’re developers and they always know when the latest updates are coming out etc so as an update drops they’re right there to give you the info in detail. What’s new etc

I have new a new airpods pro, with 3 weeks of use. Firmware is not updated, and I can't switch beetween my mac and my iphone. My old airpods pro switched without any issues.

Waiting is not an option, I think apple should reconsider this or told in the apple stores, you have to be lucky any time you buy a new airpod pro.

The thing is I have tried all the steps to have them updated and yet still they’re on the same firmware. What can be the issue. Do you have a suggestion?

Sorry limnos but I didn’t understand what you said so that’s why I asked. Yes my question was if anyone knew how to update AirPods because I tried everything apple said I should and it none worked.

I don't own Airpods. How do you know if an update is even available for them if it is done automatically by Apple?
