Next to where you sign in there is a icon that looks like three dots, that is where you will find the Settings menu. Looking through Apple’s documentation the option you want only works if the app supports it.
Hi MJ, without getting too technical; YouTube doesn’t like to play nice with Apple. Their subtitle tracks (what words to show and when to show it) don’t register when opening a video in full screen.
There is no button to turn on subtitles when on full screen. If I turn the subtitles on before clicking full screen, then the subtitles disappears once it becomes full screen.

Click your account icon to open the account menu,
Then from the account menu, click Settings. Click "Playback and performance" and check "Always show captions."
Click save to save your selection.
Hi @scottie-from-idle, that settings is already on from my laptop (can't find that setting on my iphone). The problem is still there!
