“The sender is not in your contacts list” “Report Junk”

This is in an iPhone 7 ( 14.4.1 )


First time ever - got the above message yesterday regarding a text message received from a new acquaintance.

Nothing in settings indicates now or ever to block unknown contacts etc...


Any idea what’s going on? fix?

This is perfectly normal. Every time I receive an iMessage from someone I do NOT have in my contact list, I get this option, in case it is SPAM. You can either choose to add your new acquaintance to your contact list, or simply ignore the ability to report.


There is no local list of reported iMessage SPAM messages on your iPhone.
